Solicitor / Associate (3–4+ Years PQE)
£45,000 – £55,000
ERS are partnered with a Plymouth based Legal Firm who are recruiting for a Commercial Property Lawyer to them. This role suits a Solicitor or Associate with 3 – 4 years of qualified experience, who is commercially minded, enjoys client interaction, and is keen to build a long term career with clear progression to Partner.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- A collaborative team player, comfortable working independently on matters within your expertise while seeking guidance where appropriate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Commercially aware, with a practical understanding of the needs and pressures faced by commercial clients.
- Confident user of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, with experience of case management systems.
- Willing to invest time in networking and relationship-building, including attending events outside normal office hours.
- Committed to delivering an excellent client service, keeping clients fully informed and responding flexibly when matters require attention outside standard hours.
Desirable
- A forward-thinking mindset, willing to share ideas, suggest improvements, and positively challenge existing practices.
- Ambition to develop a specialist focus within commercial property over time.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively on matters such as:
- Commercial leases (landlord and tenant)
- Property acquisitions and disposals
- Development projects
- Property aspects of corporate and business transactions
Key Responsibilities
- Handling commercial property matters from instruction through to completion.
- Supporting colleagues during peak workloads, absences, or on larger transactions.
- Supervising and working effectively with support staff where required.
- Actively participating in business development initiatives at firm, department, and team level.
- Managing financial aspects of files, including billing and cashflow in line with firm procedures.
- Ensuring all work is carried out accurately and in compliance with quality and risk management standards.
- Attending and contributing to departmental meetings.
- Developing new work from existing and prospective clients and referrers.
- Building and maintaining a strong professional network and promoting the firm.
- Keeping IT skills up to date and taking responsibility for ongoing professional development.
